One of the best ways to bring people together democratically is with town hall meetings. It is the initial first steps to meeting fellow citizens, community leaders, and reaching a meeting of the minds. It is one of the first stepping stones of change.
Town hall meetings are a healing process for humans and our commons. Earth is the commons now-a-days… it is a small world. The people of the earth are communities. The earth is home for all human communities. Town hall meetings are an antidote for the schisms of divide and conquer; and it’s the cure for the anomie settling into human consciousness due to our resignation to corporate enslavement of the world and people. Accepting responsibility for reality, the commons, humanity, our villages, nations, the world and our soul is the initial step in healing ourselves. Stewardship begins within the environment of town hall democracy. Town hall opens up processes of communication, learning and problem solving necessary to win-win, create consensus and evolve.
Being a human being is being a member of a family. Humanity has been or is a primitive, developing and dysfunctional family…in that order. Our best outcome will be from taking the responsibility for shaping the successful future of our large family while expanding all possibilities for evolutionary diversity and survival-thriving. The town hall meeting serves the function of a family meeting. Planning and implementing, strategizing change, assessing situations, and responding to the affairs of commons. We expand the commons democracy as a choice for human survival. Be a human being or die. It’s come down to that. Every wrong social, ethical and economic decision pushes us to the edge of a life or death choice as a people. Having a place where we can make important community decisions and reach a consensus of direction(s) and balance with peace at its core is the goal.
Town halls are supportive of healthy community development.
It, grass roots democracy, inoculates communities against slavery and destabilization (aka economic traps and tricks). We regain the proactive powers of yes, no and connection. We put ourselves in control of designing our quality of life. We are able to move forward. Town hall is a form of karma yoga where we, through unselfish action, can create solutions for ourselves and our seven generations.
